HGV servicing isn’t just about oil changes and filter swaps — it’s a legal requirement that directly affects your ability to operate. Every vehicle on an operator’s licence must be maintained to DVSA standards, with inspections carried out at intervals that reflect the age, mileage, and type of operation. Fall behind on your PMI schedule, and you’re putting your licence at risk.

Preventative Maintenance Inspections (PMIs)

PMIs are the backbone of O-licence compliance. The DVSA expects inspections at intervals of between 4 and 13 weeks, depending on the nature of the operation. Most fleet operators work to a 6- or 8-week cycle. Each PMI covers brakes (including air system integrity), steering, suspension, wheels and tyres, lights and markers, coupling equipment, chassis condition, fluid levels, and any manufacturer-specific items.

We carry out inspections to the DVSA’s “Guide to Maintaining Roadworthiness” standard and produce full digital records that satisfy a DVSA audit — including defect reports, rectification notes, and sign-off documentation.

MAN service schedules

For MAN trucks, we follow MAN’s own service intervals using genuine MAN parts and approved fluids. Our technicians are factory-trained and have direct access to MAN’s technical support network — so if something unusual comes up during a service, we get the answer from the manufacturer, not a forum.
